COVENANT DISCIPLESHIP

every Thursday, 7-9pm at Mary Raye Ferrell's residence

What is Covenant Discipleship?

Covenant Discipleship is a small-group meeting modeled after the prayer meeting of John Wesley. Groups covenant with each other and with God- covering areas of Christian living such as worship, prayer, giving, bible study, fellowship and service. The group meets periodically to support each other in those areas.

Covenant Discipleship is discipleship-making. We are being prepared to help people on the journey of becoming disciples of Jesus Christ. We help prepare both individuals and congregation for this ministry. We are given opportunity to covenant together to equip ourselves for sharing faith, the recovery of our Pentecost experience, and to encourage prayer and fasting as we seek God.

Covenant Discipleship is faith-sharing. We help our congregation see its role as 'evangelist' and enabling the congregational system to create an atmosphere of hospitality and grace. This will require training that includes practical tools and excercises in personal faith-sharing. We are developing here a faith-sharing community.

Covenant Discipleship is laity empowerment. Lay people need to be trained to share their own faith and to develop the culture of the congregation so individuals and congregation are 'evangelists'.

Covenant Disipleship is evangelism. It is telling your good news of the great joy which has come into your life in Christ. The Christian mission to make disciples of all nations challenges us to use whatever medium is made available to us.

Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. - ISAIAH 40:31
